Privacy Policy
App: Weather (Android)
Developer: PixelAlphaStudio
Contact: pixelalphastudio@gmail.com
Last updated: 14 September 2026
This policy explains what the Weather app collects, why, who it is shared with, and what control you have. PixelAlphaStudio ("we", "us") develops and publishes Weather on Google Play.
Weather has no sign-up and no user account. We never ask for your name, email address, or phone number, and we do not sell your personal information.
What the app does
Weather provides current conditions, hourly and daily forecasts, air quality, an activity index, a rain radar map, earthquake information, weather news, travel and route weather planning, home-screen widgets, daily weather notifications, appearance themes, and a floating "Quick Access" weather bubble that can be shown on top of other apps. The sections below describe the data each of these needs.
Permissions the app declares
Android asks your permission before the app can use the sensitive ones, and you can change any answer later in Settings → Apps → Weather → Permissions.
Location (ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION, ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION)
Reads your device's approximate or precise location so the app can show the forecast, air quality, radar view, and warnings for where you are. The coordinates are sent to our weather data provider to retrieve that forecast. The app does not request background location access: it reads your location while you are using the app, or while the Quick Access bubble is actively running. Widgets and daily notifications use the last location you saved or looked up. If you deny this permission the app still works — search for a city by name instead.
Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS)
Posts the daily weather notification you switch on in settings, and the ongoing notification Android requires while the Quick Access bubble is running. You can turn these off in the app or in Android settings.
Display over other apps (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW)
Draws the floating Quick Access weather bubble on top of your screen so you can check conditions without leaving the app you are in. This permission only draws on the screen. It cannot read, record, or capture the contents of other apps, and it collects no data.
Foreground service (FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USE)
Keeps the Quick Access bubble alive while you have it enabled, and keeps the install/removal monitor described below running. Android shows a notification whenever a foreground service is active.
Run at startup (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED)
Re-schedules your daily weather notification alarms after you restart your phone or update the app. Without it, your notification schedule would silently stop after a reboot.
App visibility and install events (package queries, PACKAGE_ADDED / PACKAGE_REMOVED / PACKAGE_REPLACED)
The app can see which apps on your device have a launcher icon, and Android notifies it when an app is installed, updated, or removed. [FILL IN: state plainly what the app does with this, then state whether this information is sent off the device or stays on it, and delete this note.]
Network (INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE)
Fetches forecasts, radar tiles, news, and ads, and checks whether you are online before trying. These are normal permissions and Android does not prompt for them.
Information we collect
Location data. When you grant location permission, your approximate or precise coordinates are sent to our weather data provider to fetch the forecast for that area. We do not keep a history of where you have been, and we do not use your location to build a profile of you.
Information you enter. Locations you search for and save, and the origin and destination of any travel or route plan you create, are stored on your device so the app can show them again. Destination information is sent to our weather and map providers to retrieve the forecast and route for it.
Settings stored on your device. Your units, language, theme, widget setup, and notification schedule are saved in the app's own storage on your phone. Because Android backup is enabled for this app, these settings may be included in your device's backup to your own Google account. That backup belongs to you, and we have no access to it.
Installed app activity. As described in the permissions section above, the app receives install, update, and removal events for apps on your device. [FILL IN: repeat the purpose here, and state clearly whether any of this leaves the device. If it never leaves the device, say so — that is the strongest thing you can say.]
Device and diagnostic data. Through Google Firebase we collect device model, operating system version, app version, language, general region (usually country), crash reports with diagnostic logs, and anonymous statistics about which screens and features are used. This is how we find crashes and decide what to improve.
Advertising identifier. The app is ad-supported. Our advertising partners may use your Android advertising ID, IP address, general location, and information about your device and your interaction with ads in order to select, deliver, and measure those ads. Your choices over this are described below.
How we use information
- To deliver the app's core features: forecasts, air quality, radar, earthquake data, news, travel planning, widgets, and the Quick Access bubble.
- To send only the notifications you have switched on.
- To remember your saved places and preferences between sessions.
- To diagnose crashes and performance problems.
- To understand which features are used, so we know what to build next.
- To show ads, which is how the app is funded.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it with anyone for their own independent marketing.
Third-party services in the app
These providers process data on our behalf or as independent controllers of their own. Each has its own privacy policy:
- Google AdMob and mediated ad networks (advertising) — How Google uses data from apps that use its services
- Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics (usage statistics and crash reporting) — Firebase privacy and security
- Google Play services — Google Privacy Policy
We also disclose information where the law requires it, such as in response to a valid legal request.
Your choices about ads
- Limit personalisation: Android → Settings → Google → Ads, where you can delete your advertising ID or opt out of personalised advertising.
- EEA, UK, and Switzerland: the app shows a consent form before serving personalised ads, as the law requires. You can change your answer later from the app's settings.
- California: we do not sell or share personal information as the CCPA/CPRA define those terms.
Controlling notifications and the floating bubble
Daily weather notifications can be turned off in the app's settings or in Android's notification settings for Weather. The Quick Access bubble can be switched off in the app, or by revoking "Display over other apps" in Android settings. Turning it off also stops the foreground service and its ongoing notification.
How long data is kept
Saved places, travel plans, and settings stay on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app. Firebase analytics events and crash reports are retained by Google under its standard periods, typically up to 14 months for analytics and around 90 days for crash reports. Location coordinates are used to fetch a forecast and are not retained by us afterwards. Email you send us is kept only as long as needed to answer you.
Security
Traffic between the app and its providers travels over encrypted HTTPS connections, and data stored on your device is protected by Android's app sandbox. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security, but we apply reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to the limited data we handle.
Children
Weather is intended for a general audience aged 13 and over. It is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live — including under the GDPR in Europe, the CCPA/CPRA in California, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 in India — you may have the right to access, correct, or delete data about you, to object to or restrict certain processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent you previously gave.
Because the app has no accounts, the most immediate controls are yours directly:
- Revoke location, notification, or display-over-other-apps permission at any time in Android settings.
- Delete or reset your advertising ID in Google settings.
- Clear the app's data from Android settings to remove saved places and preferences.
- Uninstall the app, which ends all further collection and removes what was stored on the device.
For a request about data already collected, email pixelalphastudio@gmail.com. We reply within 30 days. If you are in the EEA or UK you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
International transfers
Our service providers, Google among them, run servers in several countries, so your information may be processed outside the country where you live. Those transfers rely on the safeguards the providers maintain, such as standard contractual clauses.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes or the law requires. The revised version appears at this address with a new "last updated" date, and material changes will also be announced in the app or in the Play Store listing. Continuing to use the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
